Maxxis Driver Captures British Drifting Championship
10/12/2009Riding MA-Z1 Drifts all the way, Steve Biagioni of the Maxxis-sponsored Team Japspeed has taken the 2009 British Drift Championship. Biagioni clinched his title at the season finale, held September 19 at the Llandow Circuit, located west of Cardiff, Wales.
Biagioni turned in strong performances throughout the season, including second place at the opening round. His teammates also did well in the championship standings: Danny Eyles took second place overall, while Shane Lynch took fifth place. Eyles also won the season’s closing contest, with Japspeed drivers, including Biagioni, Lynch, Paul Smith and Anthony Cahill, in five of the top six positions. The team’s Nathan Chivers took second place overall in the Semi-Pro class.
Japspeed also did well in the team event, with Lynch, Smith and Eyles taking the victory and third place overall in team standings. Driving for Japspeed’s Team 2, Biagioni, Chivers and Cahill took second place both overall and for the day. Eyles and Lynch took the top two spots at the next day’s British Open.
